Begining about April 28th Week 1: Plancenta begins to form and blood circulates Week 2: Baby's head is detectable Week 3: Early heartbeats. Facial features and lungs begin. Tiny buds that will form the arms then legs appear. Eyes, liver and digestive system begin. Week 4: Primitive mouth appears. Week 5:Oral and nasal cavitives forming. Cerebellum and spleen begin to develop. Digital rays (early fingers) developing. Week 6: Eyelids begin to form. Tip of nose is now distinct. Buds of genitals begin.
June 9, 1999 This is our baby at 8 weeks LMP, 6 weeks gestation
He/She is the tiny peanut shaped dot in the lower part of the dark oval.
At this point the baby was about 1 inch in length.
Week 7: External genetalia still in sexless state. Week 8: Baby no longer an embryo, now begins the fetal period. Week 9: Baby' face has human profile Week 10: Fetus is swallowing and absorbing fluids. Fingernails are developing. (YEAH!) Week 11: Intestines are contained within the abdomen. Vocal cords develop. Week 12: Using a doppler you can hear the baby's heart.The baby is about 4 and 1/2 inches long and weighs about 1 and 1/2 ounces. Week 13: Fetal movement called Quickening may be felt.
August 4, 1999 This is our baby at 15 and 1/2 weeks LMP, 13 and 1/2 weeks gestation
At this point the baby is 4 1/2 inches from crown to rump. His/Her legs were tucked up so we couldn't get a total length.
We were unable to tell the gender of the little tike yet, maybe next time. We felt the baby kicking for the first time on August 5,1999. We think he/she was doing the Cha-Cha.
Week 14: Limb movements become coordinated. Head is now erect. Slow eye movements begin. Baby can blink, suck and swallow. Week 15: Baby is about 6 and 1/4 inches and weighs 4-5 oz. As of August 15th my (Heather's) waist is 37 inches around. Week 16: Baby is 7 inches and his/her body growth is catching up to his/her head. The lower limbs are lenghtening and the bones are becoming ossified. Ears are standing out from head. Week 17: Baby is 8 inches head to toe and weighs 8 oz. Did you know that baby recieves its nutrients 1-2 hours after mommy eats? Week 18: Baby is 9 and 3/4 inches and weighs 10 oz. Baby's skin is coated with vernix (a cheesy substance) to protect against chapping, abrasions, and hardening. If it is a girl the uterus is formed. Week 19: HALFWAY THERE!!! Week 20: Baby is 10 and 1/2 inches and weighs 1 lb. Lanugo (fine downy hair) covers the baby's body. Eye brows are visible. Brown fat which keeps the baby warm develops. If baby is a boy testes begin to desend. Week 21: Baby is 11 inches head to toe. The baby can hear my heartbeat and stomach. Rapid eye movement has begun.
September 23, 1999 I SAW the baby move for the first time!
Week 22: Baby is 11 and 1/4 inches head to toe.
